"As a graduate teacher, I was feeling overwhelmed with the task put upon me; to put on a whole school production. The task was made much easier with EPmusic's 'When I Grow Up'. The script is hilarious, the music is catchy and so much fun, and the parents were saying that it was the best school production they had ever seen! The children of St Bridget's are still singing the songs weeks later! Elisa from EPmusic was so helpful and supported me throughout the entire process. When the time comes to put on another school production, I will definitely select another EPmusic musical. Thank you!"

“I was watching it early in the piece and the thought occurred to me that there must have been a professionalisation of school musicals. It looked like a professional production which any other school could take the script for and easily adapt to their own school. It was fun for the kids, had great themes, and a bit like The Simpsons had enough to appeal to adults as well.” (When I Grow Up)

"EPmusic were fantastic to work with and assisted us with finding the right musical to suit our school, as well as supporting us with any changes we needed to make. The script was perfect and the kids loved the songs - all recordings and support resources were fantastic. We are using EPmusic for our next production too!" (It's a Jungle Out There)

"We did it!! It was an incredibly positive experience for all involved. And as we know all too well, when it comes to being in a show the kids learn far more than theatre skills along the way. We had happy children, impressed parents and a very proud production team. Many thanks for your interest in our ‘little’ workshop and your personalised service. We had a blast!! Hope to use EPmusic again in the future". (When I Grow Up)

"Thank you so much Elisa, for your wonderful script but also the ongoing support throughout the production process. The students absolutely loved and could definitely relate to the story within the script of 'When I Grow Up' . A very special heartfelt thank you to Elisa, for taking the time to come and watch, support and encourage the students on their performance night. To anyone wanting to take on their first whole school production, EPmusic and Elisa are absolutely phenomenal. Look forward to working with you again."

"We had our performance last night and it was such a joy. Each of the roles allowed our students to really blossom in ways that showed their creativity, talents and personalities. I'm very passionate about The Arts in education and I feel through this musical, it really highlighted the benefits of theatre, drama and music for primary school children. This musical was perfect for us. I happened to stumble across your website after trying to find a musical that fit the needs of a small school, our budget but also something with an important message. 'It's a Jungle Out There' fit the brief beautifully. We had many compliments about the clever script and the gorgeous music score and lyrics."

"A term of rehearsals with Year 4 students at PMPS culminated with two performances of this show in September, 2024, to great acclaim! Both a poignant and pointed look at humanity through the eyes of jungle creatures, this production is about belonging, tolerance and acceptance. The dialogue addresses it in a gentle yet focussed way, using humour and drama to drive home the key themes. The songs vary in style – from a reflective ballad, 'For You', to an anthemic call-to-action, 'Now or Never', with a rap, 'Good Times', in between – forwarding the story and action in a way that is sensitive to the plight of the characters at every turn of the page.
Guided by classroom teachers and myself, our students were fully engaged from the beginning, and identified many connections with real-life situations along the way. I can’t recommend this show highly enough!
Many thanks to Elisa from EPmusic who helped to shorten the script for us, was a sounding board at times, and capably ran choreography workshops at our school. Her generosity of time and input was much appreciated throughout the rehearsal and performance season.
Some student reflections in their own words after the show, included:
The thing Mabel (almost 10 years old) enjoyed the most about performing was being a different character and creating a new world for a while instead of being present - and I liked bowing at the end!
Through doing the production, the thing Charlie (almost 10 years old) learnt about herself is that she can trust and be confident in herself, and doesn’t have to worry as much. A life lesson that Jack (almost 10 years old) learnt through doing the production is that your effort is your success. These are extraordinary learnings for students to take forward into their adult lives!" (It's a Jungle Out There)
